Hegele Logistic Celebrates Official Grand Opening of New Facility

State-of-the-art facility as a great example of the Hegele Group striving for excellence with its customers

One year after commencing operation at the state-of-the-art logistics and refurbishment center in Wood Dale, IL, Hegele Logistic celebrated the official Grand Opening, together with Siemens Healthcare, and 170 national and international guests. The afternoon ceremony was opened by Christoph Sitzer, CEO of Hegele Logistic followed with a greeting by Dieter Hegele, Managing Director and Partner of the Hegele Group. “This logistics center is a great example of the Hegele Group striving for excellence with their customers,” says Hegele. Siemens Healthcare – Refurbished Systems moved into the facility of its primary refurbished systems service provider, Hegele Logistic, in April 2012 in order to optimize processes and material flow.

The 207,000 sq. foot facility offers clean room conditions for refurbishing and testing processes for imaging products such as CT, MRI and MI products. The various storage as well as staging areas are temperature and humidity controlled. An in-house crane (17.5t max. capacity) is operated for loading activities of sensitive equipment such as 3T magnets or permanent magnets. High security measures allow Hegele Logistic to store high value products for their customers from the medical and high-tech industries.

Moving into this facility in 2011 paved the way to provide a larger portfolio of services tailored to customers with sensitive products that require special handling and storage. A cryofarm was exclusively built to store up to twenty-seven magnetic resonance (MR) units according to their high storage standards. The facility underlies an eco-friendly concept by reducing energy consumption as well as raw material and natural resources.

The celebration on June 20 marked the official opening of the facility. Jonny Imerman, Chief Mission Officer of the Chicago-based non-profit cancer organization Imerman Angels, delivered a touching key note speech linking technology on the one hand with the human touch on the other. A cancer survivor himself, Jonny Imerman and his angels connect cancer fighters with survivors to ensure no one faces cancer alone. “His mission and commitment helped the Hegele Team define a broader meaning of our daily business,” says Christoph Sitzer. Before the guests could be taken on exclusive tours of the facility, Dieter Hegele and Elisabeth Staudinger, CEO of Siemens Healthcare – Refurbished Systems, opened the way with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
